01 bmw 525i wont start,help?

2001 525i,6cyl,auto, wont start up,cranks only. new plugs. gas,i hear pump running,got fuel out of fuel line w/ filter off when key on...put tester on plugs, shows a blue spark...lite shot of ether and no sign of a start. can the filter be tested? it has a built in vac/regulator??? new ones $85! like to know before i buy one. help plz??? thanks.
